Initiative to tackle urban noise and emissions open to local and regional governments

Cities, local and regional governments across the globe are at the forefront of efforts to decrease emissions across sectors. In this landscape, an ICLEI Europe partner project, EVERYWH2ERE, has launched a Regions & Cities Interest Group for pioneering authorities working to reduce urban noise and emissions.

The Group brings together cities and regions from across Europe motivated to showcase the potential of hydrogen-based mobile generator sets (“gensets”) to reduce urban noise and emissions.

It is open to all regional and local authorities ready to bring down air and noise pollution in their local environments with “plug and play” hydrogen-based fuel cell gensets. These applications are easy to transport and set to replace conventional diesel generators used for energy generation at construction sites, music festivals, harbours and other temporary events.

The Regions & Cities Interest Group is an opportunity for pioneering cities and regions to not only test and host the EVERYWH2ERE hydrogen gensets at a temporary event of their choosing, but also to receive tailor-made advice, recommendations and support from the EVERYWH2ERE project partners, and to connect with likeminded public authorities.

Hydrogen-based gensets will be ready for testing as part of a European-wide demonstration campaign by late-2020.

With Turin (Italy), Kozani (Greece) and Steinfurt County (Germany) already on board, the Interest Group is now open for more authorities to join.
