Join us this September to explore social innovation in urban mobility and energy transitions

This September, foremost experts and pioneers working on the social dynamics of energy- and mobility transition – as well as related policy design – are gathering to discuss their successes, challenges, and future pathways to herald in transitions. All interested persons are welcome to join the discussion on 14 September, so be sure to save the date.

The event will see presentations from a number of cities, including ICLEI Members Barcelona (Spain), Zurich (Switzerland), Vitoria-Gasteiz (Basque country), Malmö and Stockholm (Sweden) and Aberdeen (the United Kingdom).

Discussions will explore pathways for achieving these transitions, and how to design approaches that take local contexts into account. The conference will enable participants to simulate the dynamics of social innovation processes, explore how to facilitate them, and will discuss approaches that lead to citizen approval. Last but not least, conference sessions will include policy considerations, introducing an upcoming Policy Sandbox Tool, which helps policymakers test out social dynamics and citizen acceptance based on real-life case studies on mobility- and energy transition.

This conference and its various inputs – including the Policy Sandbox Tool – are being produced in the context of the SMARTEES project, in which ICLEI Europe is a partner, and which is coming to an end this October. The project has carried out innovative research on the social dynamics of energy- and mobility transition and policy design, which will be synthesised in this final project event.

The SMARTEES final event will take place onlinr on 14 September 2021.
