Münster named Germany’s most sustainable city

ICLEI Member Münster was recently announced as the winner of the German Sustainability Award for Cities and Towns 2019 after beating off competition from ICLEI Members Mannheim and Heidelberg.

The German Sustainability Award for Cities and Towns is the national award for excellence in sustainability, rewarding the achievements of cities and municipalities of varying sizes.

Alongside the title of Germany’s most sustainable city, Münster will also receive €30,000 from the Allianz Environmental Foundation to help further their sustainability work. The award will be presented at an award ceremony which is scheduled to take place later this year.
