Reported climate data shows a number of ICLEI Europe Members are global climate leaders

The CDP has released its annual “Cities A List” of municipalities leading climate action. The list comprises cities from across the world, and this year 15 of those are ICLEI Europe members, while even more ICLEI Members from other global regions!

CDP supports cities to report on their climate data using the CDP-ICLEI Track, as a key way to manage and curb their environmental impacts. Each year, CDP also analyses the reported data, and scores cities based on completeness and quality of their data, and on their level of climate action. This year, 119 cities received an “A” grade (the highest grade possible) and therefore made the “Cities A List.” To achieve this grade cities must, among other things, have a city-wide emissions inventory; have published a climate action plan; have emissions reduction targets that align with science-based climate targets; have completed a climate risk and vulnerability assessment; and have a climate adaptation goal.

ICLEI Europe Members who made the 2023 CPD A List include: Copenhagen (Denmark); Tampere, Turku, and Vantaa (Finland); Paris (France); Mannheim, and Münster (Germany); Athens (Greece); Reykjavík (Iceland); Amman (Jordan); Oslo (Norway); Guimarães (Portugal); Barcelona, and Zaragoza (Spain); Malmö, and Stockholm (Sweden); Kadiköy (Türkiye); and Belfast, and Hammersmith & Fulham Council (United Kingdom).
