Results from RESCUE project now available

Since June 2012, the RESCUE (REnewable Smart Cooling for Urban Europe) project consortium, including ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability, has worked on facilitating the deployment of district cooling in Europe. In the course of the project, the partners visited numerous district cooling systems, organised workshops for companies and local authorities, and prepared final documents including the project's 'Cool Conclusions' and Guidelines which are available in five languages.

District cooling is an energy-efficient and environmentally-friendly cooling option which reduces energy consumption and carbon emissions. In the final RESCUE newsletter readers can learn how to overcome some of the identified barriers to district cooling, the different ways to store ‘cold’, and the story of district cooling in Solna and Sundbyberg in Sweden and the experience from workshops on district cooling in Italy.

Although the project's activities have now concluded, the project consortium will continue to update the website with news, articles, and studies on district cooling. Contributors are also welcome to send appropriate material to be considered for publication to m.grajcar@agfw.de. Feedback on 'Cool Conclusions' and the Guidelines is also welcomed.
