UrbanWINS webinar to showcase citizen driven action tackling urban waste

Cities are invited to learn about selecting and implementing innovative circular waste management policies in a webinar titled ‘From citizen participation to local action: How cities pilot circular economy actions to fight urban waste’.

The webinar, organised by the UrbanWINS project, will see the cities of Torino (Italy) and Leiria (Portugal) discuss how innovative participatory processes can lead to waste management and prevention actions on the ground.

As part of UrbanWINS, both cities have hosted a series of public participation events resulting in three concrete actions to achieve a transition toward more circular cities.

The City of Rome (Italy) will complement the webinar sharing their experience with the UrbanWINS exchange program CityMatch, where practitioners in the waste sector visited a new city to learn directly from their colleagues about waste prevention and management.

During this interview, participants of the webinar will hear how one-on-one exchange between waste management practitioners can benefit organisations and inspire innovative management strategies.

UrbanWINS is a European project that studies how cities consume resources and how they handle resulting waste. UrbanWINS partner cities develop and test innovative plans and solutions that improve waste prevention and management.

The webinar will take place on September 12, from 15:00 – 16:30 CET.
