Vote for EUSEW Awards: support project that helped local authorities reach climate neutrality

An ICLEI project is represented among the finalists for this year’s European Sustainable Energy Awards (EUSEW Awards). Finalists were selected by a high-level jury, but the winners will be decided by an online public vote. Vote by 18 September for the impressive C-Track 50 project, in which ICLEI Europe was a partner, to show your support!

C-Track 50, which concluded in August 2021, worked with over 100 local and regional authorities in 11 European countries to build their energy and climate planning capacities in the long-term. The project used a bottom-up approach, which served to build connections amongst local governments and citizens. Of particular note, the project led to the creation of a Guidebook for Achieving Carbon Neutrality by 2050 to assist local authorities in developing climate and energy plans.

“The C-Track 50 project has been instrumental in building partnerships among municipalities of all sizes and their energy and climate stakeholders – those working on action planning and financing on the ground,” explains Nikolai Jacobi, ICLEI Europe Senior Officer, Energy, Material & Built Infrastructure. “These partnerships make-up a community that will continue to drive the European energy and climate transition forward in the coming years.”

The C-Track 50 project is a EUSEW Awards finalist in recognition of its innovations and efforts supporting energy efficiency and renewable energy in Europe. As Jacobi notes: “ICLEI has long been committed to supporting and boosting local energy action. We are proud to see one of our projects recognised by the EUSEW jury for excellence in this arena. This is great validation of our continued work building local capacity to lead energy transition – also winning the public vote would be an honour!”

Show your support: public voting is open until 18 September, and the winners will be announced at a ceremony on 26 September.

If you’re attending EUSEW in-person, come meet ICLEI experts in-person. ICLEI Europe will have a EUSEW stand, at which we will be on-hand to provide tools and resources on smart energy solutions; positive energy buildings; district heating; social innovation in energy transitions; energy communities; building stock; reaching climate neutrality; energy management in homes; and energy citizenship.
