CIVITAS SUMPs-Up

2016 - 2020

SUMPs-Up is one of three projects related to sustainable urban mobility plans under the European Union's CIVITAS 2020 Initiative. It brings together eight partner organisations and seven partner cities, all of whom are seeking to help European cities to introduce cleaner and more sustainable mobility.

SUMPs-Up assists cities in the development of Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs), as well as in working with national governments to optimise framework conditions for the adoption of SUMPs locally.

The project assists planning authorities to overcome the barriers that prevent or make it difficult to implement SUMPs: capacity building, tailored information, and support during development and implementation phases equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills to do so.

Planning authorities and their staff will be involved in all stages of the project, with the focus on countries and areas where SUMP uptake is particularly low.
