Within this project, ICLEI arranged for an information exchange with the "Buy it Green"-Network of Muncipal Purchasers in Europe (BIG-Net) while taking into account the experiences of local authorities from various European countries.
The criteria catalogue "Check it!" is available in German. A detailed English summary to be used by has been produced by ICLEI. It provides the following 6 modules: consumer goods and paper for schools and offices, electrical appliances, structural engineering and equipment, interior furnishing, water equipment and materials, washing and cleaning products. Each module of the catalogue collects most recent information, background information, argumentation help, information on the legal situation, practical examples and advertisement samples/ tendering texts. The criteria catalogue will be developed for purchasers in public institutions, local authorities and businesses. Manufacturers, industry representatives and other interest groups were invited to participate in its creation. Interviews and workshops with the responsible purchasers helped to take into account their experiences and activities, to ensure practical suitability and to consider recent developments of the market.
