ICLEI and the Ökoinstitut joined forces to develop, organise and carry out a series of training sessions on sustainable procurement to be held in five urban clusters across Germany.

The training sessions were geared towards public authorities in Germany, with a particular focus on procurers working in local and regional government administrations. Individually tailored training seminars were put together by integrating existing knowledge and training approaches developed through previous studies sponsored by the German Federal Environment Agency, and by drawing on the Ökoinstitut and ICLEI's experience.

The goal of the training sessions was to equip public authorities with knowledge and approaches to practically implement green procurement strategies and promote the approach in their own administration.
