Biofuel Cities - Co-Ordination Action Biofuel Cities European Partnership (CAB-CEP)
2006 - 2009
Biofuel Cities is a forum for the application of biofuels. Open to all stakeholders in the area of biofuels for vehicles, it seeks to integrate European research and pilot application of biofuels for vehicles with a focus on application at the local level. Biofuel Cities works to build a European partnership that facilitates networking and exchange, independently assesses biofuel projects and essentially, supports all biofuel stakeholders.
Participants have access to the www.biofuel-cities.eu information and exchange portal; take part in workshops and study tours and are kept up-to-date on the latest biofuel news, publications and tools.
Biofuel Cities is a European project - supported by the European Commission’s Directorate General for Transport and Energy – that provides a platform for biofuel stakeholders. Biofuel Cities integrates European research and pilot application of biofuels in European local governments. The project aims to accelerate the market introduction of biofuels and energy-efficient vehicles based on local sustainable mobility policies, and stimulate continued market penetration of biofuels through identifying strategic Research & Development needs and policy development.
In particular, Biofuel Cities aims at
(a) building a European Partnership in which biofuel end-users, deliverers, and frame-workers, such as feedstock providers, industrial and commercial end-users, research institutes, and local governments, are encouraged to network, find partners for projects and exchange;
(b) independantly assessing biofuel project, both research and development and development orientated projects, as well as local sustainable mobility policies, in order to guide industrial and commercial stakeholders, local governments, and the European Commission on the further implementation of biofuels and energy-efficient vehicles;
(c) supporting biofuel stakeholders through information, events, tools and publications, as well as guidance on biofuel policies and applications.
