The Climate Resilience for Communities project in Izmir is a crucial part of the Urban Climate Resilience Program (UCRP), a global initiative led by the Z Zurich Foundation to support vulnerable urban communities impacted by climate change. In Izmir, a city highly exposed to both climate-related and non-climate hazards, the project will help two neighborhoods co-create plans to better handle climate challenges, adapt to changes, and become more resilient.
Implemented by ICLEI, the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, Z Zurich Foundation, and Zurich Insurance Group Türkiye, the project uses the Climate Resilience Measurement for Communities (CRMC) tool to assess each neighborhood’s specific needs and challenges, ensuring tailored and effective resilience strategies.
