Energy drives the modern, increasingly urban lives people lead. Its uses are almost innumerable.

Sustainable energy is the future, and the transition towards it must begin now. Energy needs to be saved, used more efficiently, and obtained from renewable sources. All the while, energy security - ensuring that energy is affordable and supply meets demand - needs to be guaranteed, at best using community energy projects.

Through advocacy, such as through the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy, as well as technical support and guidance, ICLEI supports local governments in their low-carbon development and to implement sustainable energy solutions, from heating and cooling to energy generation.
