The Fast and Fair Renewables and Grids Initiative is rooted in a European consensus on how to accelerate solar, wind, and electricity grid infrastructure while ensuring local communities see real benefits and have a voice in the process. In other words, it seeks to promote fairness in the deployment of renewable energy projects. The principles offer stakeholders and municipalities a framework for accelerating renewable energy projects that are perceived as fair for all
The initiative is backed by major cross-sector organisations, including:
- ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability
- WindEurope
- CAN Europe
- Energy Cities
- SolarPower Europe
- European Renewable Energies Federation (EREF)
- European Environmental Bureau (EEB)
- REScoop.eu (citizen energy cooperatives)
- Koopwind
- European Youth Energy Network (EYEN)
These partners represent a powerful alliance of local governments, industry, civil society, cooperatives, and youth networks, united around a shared framework for community-first renewable development.
