CDP-ICLEI Track: Accelerating local climate action

2020

CDP-ICLEI Track is the world’s leading platform for climate reporting and progress tracking for cities. Jointly operated by CDP and ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability, it enables local governments to showcase their climate commitments, improve data quality, and advance toward their climate goals.

Through an annual disclosure process, cities report on their climate actions, risks, targets, and emissions data, allowing them to monitor progress and align with global frameworks.

What CDP-ICLEI Track offers

  • One platform for many initiatives: Cities can report once through CDP-ICLEI Track to fulfill the requirements of multiple climate initiatives and reporting frameworks. Data is also shared with the Covenant of Mayors Office.
  • Progress tracking and data insights: The platform helps cities benchmark progress over time, understand data gaps, and strengthen their climate planning.
  • Tailored, simplified reporting: The questionnaire is streamlined and includes different “pathways” based on city size, emissions, and capacity, making it more relevant and accessible.
  • Alignment with global frameworks: The questionnaire aligns with Race to Zero, Race to Resilience, the Paris Agreement Global Stocktake, and the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD).
  • Visibility and recognition: Public data helps cities demonstrate transparency, attract funding, and compare with peers. High-performing cities may qualify for the CDP A List, which highlights global climate leaders.
  • Scoring and feedback: Cities receive a score reflecting the completeness and ambition of their responses, offering a clear path for improvement.
