C-Track 50

Putting regions on track for carbon neutrality by 2050

2018 - 2020

C-Track 50 is a project funded by the EU Horizon 2020 programme, bringing together 13 project partners from 11 European countries (universities, consultancies, regional energy agencies, NGOs, regional governments). It aims at mobilising and guiding public authorities at local/regional and national levels in defining long-term energy policy priorities, promoting multi-level governance and supporting local and regional authorities in developing, financing and implementing sustainable Energy and Climate Policy Plans. Their purpose is to achieve climate resilience and carbon neutrality by 2050 and support the efforts of the Paris Agreement to limit temperature increase to 1.5°C.

The project is expected to contribute considerably towards achieving the 2030 and 2050 EU energy and climate targets. Its results will be disseminated widely, to as many regional and local stakeholders, national and European decision makers as possible. A strategy to sustain the exploitation of the outcome beyond the project lifetime will be formulated. At the same time, the project will ensure that it complements efforts of other projects and activities undertaken at regional and local levels.

C-Track 50 is coordinated by the National Technical University of Athens. ICLEI will lead the implementation of activities in Germany with local governments and one region, draft and regularly update the planned communication activities, contribute to the dissemination and exploitation of the projects results, and organise workshops and an informational event for local and regional authorities at a national level.
