EU Missions were launched by the European Commission as a new way to bring concrete solutions to some of our greatest challenges. The Missions have ambitious goals and aim to deliver clear and concrete results by 2030. One of these is the Mission to create 100 Climate-neutral and Smart Cities by 2030 – the so-called Cities Mission – with NetZeroCities managing the Cities Mission Platform.

In addition to the Cities Mission Platform, the Commission has launched multiple other initiatives that together provide varied support to reach Mission goals, such as the provision of city advisors. ICLEI is involved not only in NetZeroCities, but also in these other initiatives, like the CapaCITIES project, a range of Innovation Action Projects, and the Urban Transition Mission Centre. Through this engagement, ICLEI helps cities to navigate this evolving landscape.
