European cities became a living lab for the demonstration of Fuel Cell and Hydrogen (FCH) technologies, starting with their use in niche applications and expanding to everyday uses, such as temporary gensets for construction sites, music festivals, and temporary events, as part of the EVERYWH2ERE project. These daily applications facilitated the promotion and increased the social acceptability of FCH technologies among a wider audience.
The EVERYWH2ERE project integrated already demonstrated robust PEMFC stacks and lightweight, intrinsically safe pressurized hydrogen technologies into easy-to-install, easy-to-transport FC-based transportable gensets. Eight FC-containerized “plug and play” gensets were tested at construction sites, music festivals, and urban public events across Europe.
Main Activities:
- Designed, engineered, realized, and validated FC-equipped gensets.
- Organized a demonstration campaign across various EU cities.
- Conducted replicability studies for the use of the gensets in new contexts (e.g., ports, emergency sites).
- Identified further steps (certification, marketing, performance enhancements) toward the prompt marketability of EVERYWH2ERE gensets and promoted them via an E-Handbook.
- Undertook a detailed business, logistics, and environmental analysis (Support Tool).
- Organized a strong dissemination and stakeholder engagement campaign (cities, event industry, etc.).
