Statement from the Coalition for Higher Ambition urging to support an ambitious EU 2040 domestic emission reduction target ahead of COP30

Ahead of the European Council meeting (23-24 October 2025) members of the Coalition for Higher Ambition, including ICLEI Europe, have written to EU Heads of State and Government once more to ask for support a domestic 2040 net emission reduction target of at least 90%, to confirm the EU’s commitment to the Paris Agreement ahead of COP30.

Impulse paper: Joint areas of action to strenghten competitiveness of the German industry and economy through climate-neutral cities

This initial impulse paper, was released alongside the first German City-Industry-Dialogue event on 23 October in Berlin. It emphasises climate protection as a necessary investment in jobs, quality of life and economic strength in Germany and Europe.
