ICLEI Europe recognises and celebrates towns and cities demonstrating outstanding contributions and commitment to excellence and leadership in sustainability. We do this through hosting our own awards and also being members of the jury for national and European-wide awards. As an organisation we have also picked up a few awards along the way!
ICLEI Europe hosts two annual awards:
The ICLEI Sustainability Award aims to showcase the transformation of our cities with respect to the principles outlined in the Aalborg Conditions: shared governance, integrated finance and cohesive transition.
The transformation of thousands of cities and towns in Europe, depends on creating the right conditions on the national and European level to enable them to put in place the solutions needed to build a more climate neutral, equitable and resilient Europe
The award adds a critical perspective to the current arena of European city awards by underlining the role that cutting-edge political leadership practices and partnership-building play in addressing the most urgent issues of our time.
The Award will be launched in 2025.
The Procura+ Awards draw attention to sustainable, circular and innovation procurements and tender procedures, and give visibility to the most dynamic, forward-looking and innovative public authorities and their initiatives. The winners of the Procura+ Awards have strong potential for replication and scaling-up and are excellent sources of inspiration for any public authority using procurement instruments to purchase cutting edge solutions.
The Procura+ Awards recognise outstanding achievements in three categories:
