German Netzwerk21Congress will focus on Rio+20 outcomes at the local level

The 6th Netzwerk21Congress will take place in the City of Erfurt (Germany) from 15 – 16 October 2012. During this year’s edition the event, in which ICLEI is a partner, will follow up the Rio+20 Conference’s results through speeches and an interactive forum. The aim will be to create new discussions and approaches focusing on the role of local governments, business, and civil society within the framework of this year’s UN-conference.

The programme includes 15 workshops in a variety of formats to promote and exchange the ideas and experiences of local actors, as well as several activities to explore key sustainable development themes at the local level. Local representatives, such as Mayor of the City of Erfurt, Mr. Andreas Bausewein, and Prime Minister of the German State of Thuringia, Ms. Christine Lieberknecht, will take part in the congress. Those interested in attending the event can register until 21 September 2012.
