ICLEI Europe is committed to the sustainable transformation of food systems through work with cities and regions in EU-funded projects, with a particular emphasis on the needs-based and meaningful inclusion of vulnerable and food-insecure groups across relevant EU-funded projects.
European cities, towns and rural centres now have another opportunity to join ICLEI’s efforts, alongside international partners and a group of Living Labs as part of the EU-funded FEAST project, which aims to drive a just transition to healthier and more sustainable diets.
In FEAST, ICLEI brings together stakeholders from municipalities, public bodies, academia and civil society to support the co-creation of actions that promote healthy and sustainable diets across Europe. These include work on food education, support for smallholder farmers, changes in food environments, such as setting up farmers markets and social restaurants, and innovations in public food procurement.
Interested ICLEI Members are invited to apply and become a FEAST Replicator. Through regular exchange between Living Labs and Replicators, the project seeks to foster reflection and learning on how to design and implement interventions on healthy and sustainable diets. Replicators will be able to closely observe the work done by the Living Labs and draft an Action Plan, to plan the implementation of their own intervention. This is a unique opportunity for cities, regions, and organisations to engage in a collaborative effort to create equitable, resilient, and sustainable food systems that benefit all, especially vulnerable groups.
By participating in FEAST, Replicators will join a cohort of Living Labs committed to sustainable food systems transformation that includes fellow ICLEI Member cities Ghent (Belgium), Lodz (Poland), Cork (Ireland), as well as Oxfordshire (UK), CIM Alto Minho (Portugal), Leuven (Belgium), Prilep (North Macedonia), Sitia (Greece), Avignon (France), LEADER (Austria), Guldborgsund (Denmark), and Tuscany (Italy). Through direct exchange, workshops and participation in on- and offline events, Replicators will have the opportunity to:
- collaborate with FEAST Living Labs through twinning and peer-to-peer exchanges
- access expert-led training, tools, and resources to design and implement impactful interventions
- develop a tailored Action Plan to replicate FEAST’s success in their community
- showcase their commitment to sustainable food systems on an international stage
Cities, municipalities and regional bodies can apply now to join the FEAST Replication Programme. Apply by 23 April 2025!
