ICLEI’s Procura+ Conference is proud to collaborate with the team behind TCO Certified for its upcoming sustainability, innovation, and circular procurement event in ICLEI Member Lisbon (Portgual) on 13-14 March 2024.

TCO Certified is a global sustainability certification for IT products. It includes circularity aspects and helps purchasing organisations and the IT industry address the most important sustainability challenges connected to electronics, such as climate impact, hazardous substances, and supply chain responsibility. All criteria are mandatory, and accredited experts independently verify compliance with the criteria.

On 14 March, the second day of the Procura+ Conference, the team behind TCO Certified will host a market lounge titled “Putting carbon-conscious IT procurement into action”. The session will focus on strategically using IT purchasing to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Computers, smartphones, and other IT products are a source of greenhouse gases throughout their life cycle, from manufacturing to distribution, use, and disposal. Most organisations generate significant emissions through their IT infrastructure. Procurement can play a crucial role in reducing these emissions, but it can be challenging to determine where to begin and what to prioritise. This interactive session will highlight how public buyers can take action to address this issue.

In addition, participants will be able to meet the international team behind TCO Certified at the AGORA — a collaborative space to serve as a meeting ground for activities related to sustainable and circular procurement. There will be an interactive learning session about the procurement journey, exploring the main ways and opportunities to include sustainability and how to use TCO Certified as a tool.
