The third European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR), a Europe wide event promoting sustainable waste reduction actions and highlighting the impact of consumption on the environment and climate change, has officially launched a Call for Interest. The EWWR Steering committee is inviting all European public authorities with competence in the field of waste prevention to participate in the organisation of the week, which will be held from 19 - 27 November 2011.
Interested public authorities must contact the EWWR Secretariat before 22 April 2011. During the week, NGOs, schools, universities, administrations and businesses, etc. will take part in awareness raising actions on waste prevention. Organisers will act as coordinators by promoting the event and officially registering actions. As a result of participating in a European project, those involved will raise their profile and will also be mentioned on the EWWR website.
The 2010 edition of the EWWR saw more than 4,300 actions implemented in 22 European countries, and the project aims to do even better in 2011. The EWWR is a European Commission LIFE+ project managed by partners throughout Europe. Those interested should email the EWWR Secretariat at contact@ewwr.eu .
