Apply now to be recognised as a leader in sustainable urban mobility

Applications are now open for the CIVITAS Awards 2022! These awards highlight some of the most ambitious, innovative, and successful sustainable urban mobility solutions carried out by cities across Europe. They provide a prime platform for ICLEI Members (and for any local leader!) to demonstrate their excellence in the field, both in terms of policymaking and implemented measures, whilst also having their efforts recognised by the European Commission.

ICLEI Members are consistently among the winners of these prestigious annual awards. In fact, in the “Transformation Award” category alone, recent winners have included ICLEI Members Murcia (Spain) and Bremen (Germany). Winners serve as role models to other towns and cities across Europe, inspiring them in their own initiatives to make cleaner and better urban transport.

This year, the CIVITAS Initiative has opened two award categories:

  • Young people actively involved in activities related to sustainable urban mobility are invited to apply to the Young Champion Award. Full details available at: https://civitas.eu/resources/civitas-young-champion-award-2022-call-for-applications. Apply by 1 July 2022.
  • Cities and municipalities that have signed the CIVITAS City Declaration can apply for the Transformation Award, which rewards the use of an integrated set of mobility measures to make a city a smarter and more liveable place for all. Find out how to apply at: https://civitas.eu/resources/civitas-transformation-award-2022-call-for-applications. Apply by 8 July 2022.

Award winners will be recognised by the European Commission at the upcoming Urban Mobility Days (UMD2022) conference, and will be granted visibility across CIVITAS Initiative channels. The Young Champion winner will also receive paid travel and accomodation to attend the UMD2022, while a political representative from the Transformation Award winner will also be invited to give a speech at the event.

ICLEI Europe is a partner in the CIVITAS ELEVATE project, which is responsible for the CIVITAS Initiative secretariat. An ICLEI Europe representative will also sit on the jury for the Young Champion Award.
