Re-CoMmit to climate action

Many climate and energy targets developed across the world over the past several decades were aiming to accomplish certain milestones by 2020. In 2021, it is time to re-commit to renewed, ambitious climate and energy action. In this spirit, the Covenant of Mayors (CoM) is stepping-up action for a fair and climate-neutral Europe.

Join the official launch of the renewed ambitions of the European Covenant of Mayors and help make this vision a reality.

Since 2008, the EU Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy has brought together thousands of local governments who voluntarily commit to implementing climate and energy actions, with the goal of achieving and exceeding EU climate and energy targets.

Building on a survey among local authorities and on the strong ambitions of the European Union, the CoM movement in Europe has strengthened its commitments, inviting signatories to step up their ambitions and accelerate the climate transition.

Local leaders from the CoM Political Board will pave the way and be the first to renew their Covenant commitments. ICLEI Europe is represented on the CoM Board through Martin W.W. Horn, Mayor of ICLEI Member Freiburg (Germany), and President of ICLEI Europe's Regional Executive Committee.

Join the event on Wednesday, 21 April, from 14:30-16:00 CEST to hear why it makes sense for local leaders to raise their ambitions.

If climate neutrality or just transition concepts are new for you, don't miss the second part of the event, which will provide more information on the new commitments and answer participant questions.

Registration is compulsory and free of charge.
