ICLEI Members invited to engage with peers on driving forward sustainable urban development

On 3 December, the European Commission is, for the first time, opening its annual International Urban Cooperation (IUC) programme City-to-City event to attendance from all interested persons.

This event previously only brought together cities participating in the IUC programme – including a large number of ICLEI Members – to discuss solutions to common sustainable urban development challenges, and to support replication of successful solutions worldwide. This year's edition, however, will be held online and is open to all.

Register now to exchange with and learn from ICLEI Members including Turku (Finland), Barcelona and Vitoria Gasteiz (Spain), as well as Members from other global ICLEI regions, such as Edmonton (Canada), Rosario (Argentina), Belo Horizonte and São Paulo (Brazil), Gwalior (India) and Toyota (Japan).

Interactive group discussions will more deeply explore two main topics: the unique urban challenges faced as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent efforts to kickstart recovery; and long-term strategies for climate neutrality, and related governance challenges.

The event will facilitate mutual learning on how best to harness international knowledge sharing to drive sustainable urban development. Furthermore, with the IUC programme's next phase – the IURC programme – around the corner, this may be an opportunity for cities to discover whether applying to this next phase would be a good fit for them.
