Registration open for the 2020 Urban Resilience Forum

Registration is now open for the online 2020 edition of the European Urban Resilience Forum (EURESFO), taking place on 27 May. The event will address the ongoing COVID-19 crisis first-hand, and will explore, among other topics, the interrelation between resilience and public health.

This flagship ICLEI Europe event is adapting to the current global reality and moving resilience discussions forward. Speakers will discuss the pandemic’s effects on cities and analyse local European responses. “The impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic are still to be understood, but changes in core services and activities are expected to affect cities worldwide in different ways, from improving critical infrastructure to changes in social interaction patterns,” said Vasileios Latinos, Officer for Sustainable Resources, Climate and Resilience at ICLEI Europe.

The Forum will discuss the integration of mitigation and adaptation; the use of nature-based solutions for low carbon and resilient development; the importance of insurance for disaster risk reduction; and how vital it is to understand risk landscapes in order to improve urban adaptation and decrease the impacts of climate change on vulnerable populations.

Organised by ICLEI Europe and the European Environment Agency, the Forum will retain its informative, open and interactive format. Speakers and participants from European cities and regions, institutions and the private sector will engage in discussions on important on-going processes that will shape the future.
