Buildings and Climate Global Forum

7 - 8 March 2024
Paris, France- Palais des Congrès

The Buildings and Climate Global Forum, co-organised by France and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), with the support of the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction, will take place on 7-8 March 2024 in ICLEI Member Paris (France). The Forum will convene for the first time ministers and high-level representatives of key organisations to initiate further international collaboration for building decarbonisation and resilience following the Conference of the Parties (COP) 28.

This Forum will provide a unique opportunity to engage with ministers in charge of decarbonisation and resilience of the buildings, real estate, and construction sectors from all world regions.

High-level representatives and experts of key stakeholder organisations will be invited, across the entire buildings sector value chain, including local authorities, NGOs, and businesses. Many sessions on key topics, CEO and ministerial roundtables, plenary meetings, solution exhibitions, and pitches will provide the opportunity to exchange, network and work together. ICLEI will be speaking about the potential of heritage and the existing built environment to accelerate sectoral climate mitigation, adaptation, and capacity building.

Governments will be invited to endorse a joint statement, the “Déclaration de Chaillot”, outlining shared principles and a cooperation framework to drive global initiatives for decarbonisation and climate resilience in the buildings sector.

The Forum follows the successful launch of the Buildings Breakthrough, supported by 28 governments, the European Commission, and 19 international initiatives at COP28 on 6 December 2023.
