ICLEI Member Rome helps rugby fans travel sustainably

For the seventh year in a row, ICLEI Member Rome (Italy)’s public transport operator (Roma Servizi per Mobilità) is providing rugby fans travelling to the Italian capital for the Six Nations Championship with advice on how to reach the city’s Olympic Stadium sustainably.

The short guide gives information on how to best travel to the matches using public transport or by cycling. It also provides advice for those who want to take bikes on Rome’s metro, and gives details on taxi services and accessibility for those with reduced mobility.

Cyclists can secure their bikes at new bike parking facilities located near the stadium. These can be easily accessed via the cycle path shown on the guide's map.

This year, Roma Servizi per Mobilità is also collaborating with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and with Jump, a shared electric bike service run by Uber. These build on Rome’s existing partnerships with FIAB (the Italian Environment and Cycling Federation), Healthy Stadia and BYCS. Furthermore, these partnerships complement the city's ongoing work in the CIVITAS Handshake project, in which ICLEI is a partner.

More broadly, such actions form part of the city’s efforts to improve quality of life for residents and experiences of visitors by making sustainable travel easier.
