Learn how ICLEI and Google EIE assist Cities in advancing local climate action

ICLEI Europe and Google have been working together to investigate how the Environmental Insights Explorer (EIE) tool can assist Cities in advancing local climate action and in achieving their local carbon reduction goals. The Google EIE is a globally consistent, freely available dataset that estimates building and transportation emissions, as well as solar rooftop potential in cities worldwide by harnessing proprietary data and varied machine learning modelling techniques.

To find out more about Google EIE and the work with ICLEI Europe, please join us in the following events.

European Urban Resilience Forum 2021
Session: "The revolution of data in integrated climate strategies"

Date: Wednesday, 20 October 14:00 to 16:00 CEST

This session aims to open the debate on cities’ need for integrated climate action under data-driven decision-making processes. We will hear from practitioners on how data can enhance integrated climate action and thus facilitate better decision-making processes at a local level. For the first time, ICLEI and Google will take the opportunity to present a report with the results of a methodological assessment on how data from the Google Environmental Insights Explorer (EIE) tool could support integrated climate action based on a deep dive assessment conducted in nine European cities.

9th Informed Cities Forum
Session: What data do we need to support a future mobility vision?

Date: Tuesday, 26 October 14:00 to 15:00 CET

What tools do decision makers really need to set the right course for the road ahead? How do we deal with contested data stories? We bring together experts in computer science, big data, and sustainable mobility together to discuss the future direction of decision-making in our cities. Practices from the GreenCharge project in data collection and simulation will be shared, as well as from opportunities from the Google Environmental Insights Explorer (EIE) in the wider mobility context. This session forms part of this year's 9th Informed Cities Forum exploring connections between e-mobility and cultural heritage.
