Open call: Energy funding available for local and regional actors

Local and regional governments can receive European support in the transition towards an energy-efficient, renewable energy-based, climate-neutral and resilient economy. Until November, calls under the Clean Energy Transition (CET) sub-programme of LIFE are offering a total of 99 Million Euros across 13 topics.

The calls are relevant whether you are working on the development of plans and strategies or you are preparing concrete investments into sustainable energy. The calls include:

LOCAL – Technical support to clean energy transition plans and strategies in municipalities and regions

OSS – Integrated services for clean energy transition in buildings and businesses

PDA – Project Development Assistance for sustainable energy investments

BETTERRENO – Energy Performance of Buildings - Creating the conditions to make renovation faster, deeper, smarter, service- and data-driven

In general, the LIFE calls are known for a simpler application process and a stronger focus on deploying innovative solutions on the ground, in comparison to the more research-oriented Horizon funding programmes, which normally seek to develop new methods. As such, they are particularly useful for local and regional governments seeking to act on the clean energy transition, benefiting from earlier work and experiences.

Call facts

  • Deadline for all LIFE CET call topics: 16 November 2023
  • Funding rate of 95%

Take advantage of the funding support and become a leader in the clean energy transition!

Did you know: ICLEI is also working with the LIFE programme on the European City Facility, offering simple grants to hundreds of cities seeking to develop investment concepts in support of their Sustainable Energy and Climate Plans. The first call closed as of 30 June, but you can sign up for a call alert for the upcoming calls here.
